BMS & Automation Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our client’s team as a BMS / Automation Specialist. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining BMS / automation systems while driving efficiency, quality, and safety improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

BMS / Automation Commissioning:
  • Perform site testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of BMS equipment, HVAC control systems, and field devices.
  • Install, program, and test BMS/Automation hardware and software based on wiring diagrams and customer specifications.
  • Ensure integration with IT infrastructure using protocols like BACnet/IP and Modbus TCP/IP.
  • Design, assemble, and test control panels, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Lead automation projects from design to commissioning, ensuring timely delivery within budget.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for installations and modifications.
  • Collaborate with OEMs, suppliers, and stakeholders to conduct Acceptance Tests and ensure system reliability.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
  • Provide technical support for fault-finding in machine/process operations and BMS installations.
  • Conduct periodic preventive maintenance and troubleshooting to optimize system performance.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Drive initiatives to enhance system efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and safety.
  • Share technical expertise through training and collaboration with Maintenance and Operations teams.
Compliance & Safety:
  • Adhere to company health and safety procedures and promote a safe workplace.
  • Ensure all work complies with industry standards and client specifications.
Qualifications & Skills: 
  • Higher Diploma (MQF Level 5) in Industrial Automation, Electronics, Controls, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in BMS, HVAC controls , or automation systems commissioning, maintenance, or troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Expertise in PLC/BMS systems (e.g., Siemens, Mitsubishi, Allen Bradley) and protocols like BACnet, Modbus, and DALI.
  • Strong ICT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; fluency in Maltese is a plus.
  • Valid driving license and willingness to perform on-call duties when required.

Preferred Experience:
  • Knowledge of various BMS/PLC/SCADA platforms (e.g., Honeywell, Siemens, Johnson Controls, Distech).
  • Hands-on experience with automation systems involving pneumatics, hydraulics, and drive systems.
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems, including heat recovery.
  • Project management skills with a track record of delivering milestones on time and within budget.
