Delicatessen Worker

One of our esteemed clients in Malta is currently looking to recruit a Delicatessen worker.

The employee at the delicatessen will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, managing gourmet and high-quality products (cheeses, cold cuts, wines, etc.), while ensuring their proper presentation and storage, inventory control, and maintaining quality and hygiene standards in the work area. The ideal candidate is proactive, with excellent customer service skills and knowledge of specialized food products.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide friendly, efficient, and personalized customer service.
  • Advise customers on products, including cheeses, cold cuts, oils, wines, preserves, and more.
  • Ensure customer orders are taken accurately and delivered with quality.
  • Display and organize products attractively in display cases and shelves, ensuring proper preservation.
  • Control product inventory, ensuring stock availability and that products are not expired.
  • Perform restocking and product rotation according to expiration dates.
  • Keep the work area clean and organized at all times, adhering to hygiene and food safety standards.
  • Regularly clean display cases, shelves, and work utensils.
  • Assist in preparing special or customized orders.
  • Assist with product deliveries, verifying quality and quantity.
  • Manage the checkout process, using the cash register and point-of-sale (POS) system.

Requirements:
  • Previous experience in sales, customer service, or in the gourmet food or delicatessen industry (preferred).
  • Knowledge of gourmet products, cheeses, cold cuts, wines, and other specialized foods (desirable).
  • Effective communication and customer-oriented skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and under pressure.
  • Positive, proactive, and professional attitude.
  • Responsibility in handling cash and sales records.
  • Basic knowledge of hygiene and food safety standards.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Intermediate to high level of English.
