Diesel Engine Mechanic

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Engine Mechanic to perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on mechanical systems, including engine repairs and services, as well as fault finding on manual and automatic gearboxes. The role will involve working in various environments such as workshops, onsite, at heights, in confined spaces, or onboard/offshore as required.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform routine maintenance and testing activities on mechanical systems.
Utilize hand tools, testing equipment, and specialized machinery for diagnostics and repairs.
Overhaul mechanical equipment such as pumps, valves, seals, and couplings.
Work on port handling, marine, and industrial equipment.
Interpret technical drawings and manuals to complete repairs.
Follow safety protocols and work on tasks assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications and Skills:

Mechanical Technician Diploma (EQF Level 4) or equivalent.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
Must meet Jobs Plus Mechanical Technician Trade Test requirements.
Strong English communication skills.
Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
Familiarity with mechanical equipment such as lathe, milling, drill press, etc.
Ability to follow instructions and work well in a team.
A valid driving license is an asset.
Trained, experienced, and certified in port handling, marine, and industrial equipment.
