Head of HR

One of our clients, a large local group operating in different sectors, namely construction, supply and production of raw material, retail and renewables is looking for a Head of Human Resources to form part of its senior management team. The ideal candidate needs to apply best practices and knowledge when performing tasks in own area of responsibility, manage all aspects of human resources functions, provide advice and support to senior management and maintain the integrity of all product information.

Main responsibilities:
  • Provide support to senior management in the recruitment of staff by understanding their requirements, managing the screening and interviewing process and selecting the most suitable candidates.
  • Provide senior management with expert advice, coaching and guidance on company policies and procedures, terms and conditions of employment, absence management and performance management.
  • Maintain the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
  • Create, develop and maintain an employee handbook, outlining company policies, procedures, and process flows, ensuring it is comprehensive and up to date.
  • Ensure that senior management and their staff are aware of the policies and procedures in force and that they are informed and updated on key business and organisational issues.
  • Evaluate the learning and development activities required, follow up individual development needs and source internal or external training provisions, while monitoring training costs against budget.
  • Organise staff training sessions, workshops, and activities.
  • Conduct investigations of individual employee relations cases, ensuring that these are well managed and meet the requirements of the company’s policies, best practices and employment legislation.
  • Deal with employee grievances, implement disciplinary procedures and pay negotiations, providing guidance on individual employee relations cases while ensuring these are well managed.
  • Manage the information and records held on the HR database and personnel files ensuring these are updated in a timely and accurate manner and comply with all legal or data protection policies.
  • Plan, prepare and implement marketing and employer branding strategies alongside other company executives and staff.
  • Manage and access funding for training and write proposals.
  • Keep up to date with legal developments, advise management on compliance and risk factors, implement applicable human resource laws, and represent the organisation at hearings.

Requirements:
  • A degree/qualification in HR or similar
  • An employment law diploma is an asset
  • Experience in a similar role is a must
  • Be committed and loyal to the company
  • A good knowledge of employment law and relevant legislation
  • Able to work under pressure and with minimal supervision, flexible and committed.
  • Ability to act with integrity by being always open and honest.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and to work with third parties.
  • Good working knowledge of computers and conversant with computer applications, including powerpoint presentations.
