Senior Legal Officer – Fintech Focus

Our well-established client is looking to recruit a Senior Legal Officer to join their growing team, with a specific focus on the Fintech sector. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced legal professional to play a key role in shaping the future of digital finance, contributing to forward-thinking regulatory initiatives and innovative fintech solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive the development and execution of regulatory frameworks related to Fintech supervision.
• Provide expert legal and regulatory advice, including conducting legal research, drafting reviews, and preparing documentation.
• Work independently within delegated authority, escalating complex matters to senior management when necessary.
• Advise both internal departments and external stakeholders on legal and regulatory issues related to digital finance.
• Contribute to the formulation of policies and ensure alignment with Maltese and European legislation.
• Represent the organization in local and international forums, including European Supervisory Authorities and working groups.
• Promote a culture of innovation and regulatory excellence in the field of digital finance and emerging technologies.

Requirements

• Proven experience in regulatory, legal, or compliance roles, preferably with a focus on fintech or digital finance.
• In-depth understanding of local, EU, and international financial regulations.
• Strong legal drafting and research skills.
• Thorough knowledge of the fintech ecosystem, including current and emerging trends in digital finance.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar position.
• Education & Qualifications
• A relevant academic qualification at National Qualification Framework Level 6 or higher, certified by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC), or a widely recognised professional qualification at an equivalent level.
