Accounts Clerk (Applicants MUST be in Malta)

Reporting to: Assistant to the Financial Controller

One of our clients, a group establishing a number of restaurants in Malta, is expanding and currently seeking to employ an Accounts Clerk to work at their Head Office on a full-time basis. The ideal applicant should enjoy working in a team, be reliable and have a professional attitude at work. The chosen candidate will perform day-to-day accounting functions, maintain accounting records and perform other related duties in the finance department.

Job responsibilities:

  • Posting and verifying details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed and other transactions
  • Maintaining general ledgers including the preparation of accounts analysis and journal entries
  • Reconciling bank accounts, statements and records, and take corrective action when necessary and where action does not involve any departure from normal practice or policy
  • Computing and record charges of refunds, cost of items, service charges, rentals, and similar items
  • Type and print vouchers, invoices, cheques, account statements, reports, and other records
  • Depositing all monies and cheques received by the Company
  • Processing petty cash payments
  • Issuing debtors’ and creditors’ lists and statements
  • Ensuring that the Company’s financial regulations are adhered to
  • Performing standard office procedures including processing mail, answering customer phone calls, ordering supplies, typing and filing
  • Filing documents, papers, letters and records for quick and easy access and retrieval; maintaining and updating files; ensuring that all outgoing documents are registered, easily traced and tagged
  • Ensuring a high quality standard of work and services throughout
  • Performing any other duties which may be assigned from time to time

Person Specification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance / Accounting or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of clerical accounting experience
  • Knowledge of basic financial, tax, and accounting principles
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with aptitude to learn new systems
  • Experience with financial planning software
  • Speak English fluently
