Assistant Food & Beverage Manager
One of the largest hoteliers in Malta is looking for an Assistant Food and Beverage Manager to oversee the operational planning of all food and beverage operations for two major hotels in the Northern part of the island, including a number of outlets. The primary objective of this position is to achieve customer satisfaction and quality service whilst meeting or exceeding financial goals through a detailed forecast. The successful candidate will be responsible to plan and manage all F&B orders, team members, and outlets’ finance. The goal is to maximise sales and revenue through customer satisfaction and also through employee engagement by being able to forecast, plan and manage all Food and Beverage resources through diligent rostering and employee effectiveness.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all F&B and day-to-day operations within budgeted guidelines and to the highest standard
- Preserve excellent levels of internal and external customer service
- Identify customers’ needs and respond proactively to all of their concerns
- Lead F&B team by attracting, recruiting, training, and appraising talented personnel
- Provide optimal customer experience through conflict resolution, creativity and consistently working proactively in delivering high-quality results and providing thoughtful and anticipatory service
- Oversee and ensure guest satisfaction for all dining and lounge guests
- Comment card scores always target 85% on Trip Advisor and other platforms
- Preserve excellent levels of internal and external customer service
- Lead an efficient F&B team by attracting, engaging, and training personnel
- Provide two-way communication and nurture an ownership environment with an emphasis in motivation and teamwork
- Comply with all health and safety regulations
- Ensure that all direct reports are well-versed and trained in all aspects of food and beverage service
- Train and develop the food and beverage team to identify and maximise sales within the outlets
- Lead departmental meetings with staff of all outlets
- Administer on the job training programs within the outlets, including new employee orientation. Increase employees’ morale and provide coaching and feedback
- Establish targets, KPIs, schedules, policies, and procedures
- Drive service quality and customer satisfaction
- Manage compliance with food and beverage hygiene policies and procedures
Requirements:
- Culinary school diploma or degree in food service management or a related field
- Must have at least 3 years in a managerial role within a multi-outlet, high-volume operation
- Proven food and beverage management experience including banqueting and hotel operations within the food and beverage areas
- Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
- Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS)
- Must be mature, pleasant, courteous, cooperative and an enthusiastic team player who displays good human relations skills
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently and demonstrates a can-do attitude
- Guest-oriented and service-minded
- Ability to meet financial targets. Ability to work under pressure
- Must be flexible in working hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays
