Sales Manager (Applicants MUST be in Malta)

One of our clients, a hotel located in central Malta, is looking for an innovative, passionate and creative sales-oriented candidate to form part of their Sales team. The selected applicant will be an individual with previous work experience within a similar work environment and will be reporting directly to Senior Management.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Identify new commercial opportunities and manage marketing efforts
  • Keep abreast of trends and market conditions to provide strategic advice to upper management
  • Develop and implement commercial strategies to maximise revenue and expand the customer base
  • Conduct market research and analysis to create detailed business / action plans on commercial opportunities (source markets expansion, business development etc.)
  • Achieve / exceed annual sales targets within assigned territory and accounts
  • Understand the requirements of existing customers to ensure their needs are being met
  • Act to acquire new customers and manage client relationships (new and existing)
  • Contribute by bringing his / her own portfolio of customers
  • Monitor the performance of commercial activities using key metrics and prepare reports for senior management
  • Assist in setting financial targets and budget development and monitoring
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships
  • Effectively communicate the value proposition through proposals and presentations
  • Negotiate and close agreements with customers
  • Monitor and analyse performance metrics and suggest improvements
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual sales forecasts
  • Familiarity in dealing with tour operator partners and OTAs
  • Understanding the local market challenges

Person Specification:

  • 5 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, with a minimum of 2/3 years in a similar sales position
  • Minimum 5 years of sales experience and know-how on the destination
  • Excellent knowledge of English (written, verbal)
  • Have good administrative skills, be computer literate and must be conversant with MS office applications and Opera
  • Quick learner with strong organisation and multi-tasking skills, and an eye-for-detail
  • Must be able to work in pressure environments and high-intensity situations
  • Hard-working and a team player, with a result, orientated attitude
  • Strong business and commercial acumen combined with analytical ability
  • Be proactive and take initiative
  • Be customer-focused and have a passion for customer service excellence
  • Speak fluent English
