Assistant Financial Controller

One of our esteemed clients in the hospitality sector is looking for an Assistant Financial Controller to be part of a team of professionals who assist in the financial strategy and operations of their hotels.

The main duties and responsibilities are:

  • Preparing monthly management statements on time to allow the review of the company’s financial performance.
  • Actively leading the preparation of the yearly budget and regular forecasts together with other Department Heads
  • Preparing cash flow and any other reports as may be required by management from time to time.
  • Preparing and submitting VAT Returns
  • Working with other Departments to prepare and interpret financial information relative to upcoming and existing projects or business opportunities.
  • Upholding the internal and financial control environment of the Company
  • Acting as the first line of contact of the external auditors to ensure a prompt and accurate preparation of the statutory audit.
  • Supporting the accounts staff in the daily monitoring of cash settlements and accounts receivables, as necessary.
  • Ensuring the timely monitoring of debtors, credit control and effective reporting to Senior Management as required.
  • Supervising the Finance Department personnel in line with companies policies and procedures, accounting standards and fiscal requirements.
  • Proposing policies and procedures to work in a more efficient manner and in line with company’s standards.
  • Managing and motivating the members of the Finance Department on a continuous basis in line with the company culture.
  • Carrying out any other duties as may be reasonably assigned by the Financial Controller and Group CFO.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar position, it would be an asset if experience is in the hospitality industry.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills;
  • Able to manage and guide employees to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used;
  • A solid understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles;
  • Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations;
  • BS/MA degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics or ACCA.
